WELCOME TO ST CROIX

The first tourist visiting St. Croix from Europe was Christopher Columbus on his second transatlantic trip. He was too busy on the first trip. On the second trip, in 1493, he took his scuba gear with him and enjoyed St. Croix so much that he never went ashore on St. Thomas or St. John, although he took a spin around these islands in his caravel, Pinta, (short for PIÑA COLADA), the most common drink in St. Croix.

Chris named the islands the Virgin Islands, in remembrance of St. Ursula and the 1,000 virgins. Much has changed, but the name stays the same.

Some boring facts. . .

We drive on the left side of the road, which is the right one for us. . . and our visitors!

We use green American dollars, and if we run out of those, we use plastic, just like you do.

We have no sales tax.

The size of St. Croix is 80 square miles, or, to compare it to something we are sure you know better, it is about the size of a little more than 38,000 football fields.
